What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise that improves, strengthens and maintains the muscles responsible for good posture. These “core” muscles need to be in good shape for you to sit, stand and move around with ease. Using a combination of mat work and equipment, Pilates is a safe low impact way to exercise that improves flexibility, strength, balance and co-ordination. Not only does Pilates help control pain but it can also help improve your performance. What’s more – anyone, at any age can enjoy and benefit from Pilates. So whether your regular activities are playing with the kids or playing golf, Pilates is the ideal way to maintain great shape

Our Classes

  • ACTIVATE Structure:  1:3 ratio. 

  • 50 min class in our studio. 

  • 6 week review required 

  • 6 week class blocks. 

  • Run by our experienced Rehab Physiotherapists, Alana & Guy.

  • This will be part of the participant’s rehabilitation. The participant may have an injury or a specific rehabilitation target. A high level of supervision is catered for in this setting , with a maximum of 3 participants in a class.

  • In the Initial assessment goals will be discussed and set and an individual programme planned to reach them. This assessment may include a real time ultrasound to ensure pelvic floor and abdominal muscle activation is being used correctly.

  • This class will entail gym-based strength ideals, functional movement training, resistance, and proprioceptive training. This programme will be followed for 6 weeks, once complete a review appointment will be arranged to measure progress and to reset goals and progress forward continuously.

  • Participants will be expected to be actively involved in their goal setting and will often have home-based exercise on top of the classes to help achieve the goals set.

  • These spots are for dedicated rehab clients and we need continual spots to be made available
